I am very proud to present the official music video for the first track off my album, Anchors and Balloons. The song is called “Modeh Ani”, the text of which which literally means “I give thanks before you, living king and eternal one, for you have returned my soul to me with compassion and great faithfulness.” Traditionally, this is supposed to be the first prayer every Jew should say each day upon waking up. It is a reminder that every day is a blessing and that we should not take a single one for granted.
This gorgeous video was directed by a fellow Trojan, Andres Casanova in several beautiful locations in and around Malibu, California. I was blessed to co-write the song with my friend, Daniel Leanse, and the song was co-produced with the amazing Ross Garren and features some amazing musicians: (grammy-winning) MB Gordy, John Adams, John Schroeder.
I hope you enjoy the video and song! Several folks have told me that they set the song as their alarm on their phone, so that they can hear it first thing in the morning. I love that, and would offer that as a challenge to you. Try saying this prayer (whether this melody or another) every morning, giving yourself 2 minutes, first thing each morning, and see how you feel after a week. Motivational speaker, Tony Robbins, once said “When you are grateful, fear disappears and abundance appears.” In this time of fear and uncertainty, a little gratitude can go a long way.
L’shalom,
Josh
