Description
Avinu Malkeinu- like you’ve never heard it before.
Mixing trap beats with off-kilter mixed meter rhythms (inspired by another version of the song recorded by psychedelic rock band, Phish), and vocal pyrotechnics hearkening back to the great Hazzanim (Cantors) of the mid 20th century…This new recording of Avinu Malkeinu is guaranteed to lift you into the new year with a dose of effervescence.
Wondering what the Hebrew words mean?
Avinu Malkeinu- Our Father, Our King
Chaneinu V’aneinu- Be gracious and answer our prayers
Ki ein banu ma’asim- For we have little to commend us
Ase imanu tzedakah vachesed- Deal kindly and gently with us
Vehoshiyeinu- And save our people
This prayer is sung throughout the High Holy Days (The days of repentance that occur between Rosh Hashanah- the Jewish New Year, and Yom Kippur- the Day of atonement.). This is a time of reflection, when every Jew is supposed to gather together to take time for introspection, reflection, and accounting of the soul- cheshbon Hanefesh.
